Who we work with
The advice changes completely depending on which of these you are.
Which is exactly why nobody here recommends anything before asking. Pick the one that sounds most like your year.
A mortgage, small children, and one or two incomes holding all of it up. You want to know the plan survives you.
Where that usually startsWhat we look at first
Whether your income is covered for the years your children are still dependent — and what the mortgage insurance the bank added at closing would actually pay, and to whom.
None of these quite fit? Describe your own situation — that is the more useful conversation anyway.
What we cover
Everything we can help you with.
Nine services, grouped by where they sit in your plan. Each page explains how it works, the choices in front of you, and where it is not the right answer.
Protect today
The floor under everything else — so a loss of income, health or life does not unravel what your household depends on.
Life insurance
Replace the income your household depends on, for as long as it depends on it.
Critical illness insurance
A tax-free lump sum on diagnosis, to spend however recovery actually requires.
Disability & income protection
Replace a portion of your paycheque, monthly, if you cannot work.
Mortgage protection
Own the coverage that clears your mortgage — instead of renting it from the lender.
Health & dental
Cover the everyday medical costs a provincial plan and an ended group plan leave behind.
Build tomorrow
Savings with a job to do: a first home, a child's education, a retirement date — each with its own timeline.
Leave a legacy
Income you will not outlive, and an estate that reaches the people you intended without a fight.
Arriving in Canada
Coverage for family joining you here, and the first protection decisions newcomers face.
How we work
Educate first. Recommend second.
Most people are sold a product before anyone understands their situation. We do it the other way around.
A policy you do not understand is not protection — it is a bill you hope covers something. So before a single recommendation, we go through your income, your dependants, your debts and whatever coverage you already hold. Only then do we talk about options, and only ones that answer something we found.
We look at what is already there
Group benefits, an old policy, a mortgage insurance add-on. Most people are already paying for more than they realise — and it rarely lines up.
We explain the trade-offs, not just the upside
What it costs, what it excludes, and what would have to happen for it to pay out. In plain language, out loud, before you sign anything.
You decide, and we revisit it
You move ahead with what genuinely fits. Then we review it when the mortgage changes, a child arrives, or income shifts.

Who you will be working with
Financial guidance is personal. You should know exactly who you are dealing with.
I started Valentra Wealth because of how often I met people who were paying for protection they could not explain. They had a policy from a bank, a benefit through work, something a relative recommended years ago — and no idea what any of it would actually do on the day it mattered.
Questions
The things people ask before they call.
If yours is not here, it is a good opening line for the first conversation. No question is too basic — most of them are the right ones.
Fifteen minutes with Malay, by phone or video. You tell him what prompted you to look, he asks about your household, your income and any coverage you already hold, and he explains how the relevant options work. Nothing is recommended and nothing is decided on that call.
